Lord, You told us to be in the world, but not of it. But the line gets blurrier by the day. One day we follow the wisdom of the world, the next we tout your Word.
And this double-mindedness makes us unstable in all our ways.
We repent of wavering between two opinions. You are God. We follow You, not the gods of this world: money, position, and power.
So we humble ourselves before You to receive favor we don’t deserve. And we submit ourselves to You: your heart, your perspective, and your way.
Only You can change the hearts of people.
So Lord, make our hearts more like yours. We turn from every idol that turned our hearts away from You.
Hatred, selfish ambition, and discord have no place in Kingdom people.
Because how can we praise You with our tongues and with those same tongues curse people made in your likeness?
So we lay ourselves before You and ask You to make us vessels of your wisdom and peace. And we thank You that as we humble ourselves, You will lift us up.
Lord Jesus, it’s in your matchless name. We pray. Amen.
