“But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

Mary was going about her business when she experienced a significant pattern interrupt. People don’t see angels every day!
She felt unsettled and anxious. And she wondered, what is the meaning of all this?
Mary had no idea the revelation of Jesus that would follow. And it’s interesting that even though she was startled and afraid, she stuck around to hear more.
A deeper revelation or insight into Jesus is often preceded by a situation that gets your attention.
You’ll be doing life as usual and something frightening will happen that leaves you totally confused. You don’t know what to make of it.
You can take off running or you can be curious enough to stick around to see what it all means. Because you know something Mary didn’t.
Whatever this situation is, the Lord is working it together for your good because you belong to Him (Romans 8:28).
