“When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
MATTHEW 2:3-6 NKJV
So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:
‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
Are not the least among the rulers of Judah;
For out of you shall come a Ruler
Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ”
Young, old, rich, poor, average or brilliant. The Lord will reveal Himself through anyone who makes themselves available.
In the same way Gideon thought himself the least of his tribe and therefore unqualified to be God’s man a valor (Judges 6:15), Bethlehem thought themselves the least of the tribe of Judah.
Certainly the promised Christ couldn’t come through them.
Didn’t I read somewhere that the Lord has a thing for the least of these?
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty…1 Corinthians 1:27 NKJV
