VINE PRAYER: PRAY GOD’S WORD TO REMEMBER HOW GOD WORKS

Even when you can't see evidence, believe God is working. He just works in private.

Lord God, we know you’re awesome in power, doing wonders among us. We read your Word and see You in the Gospels: the eyes opened, the limbs healed, the small lunches feeding many.

And it’s tempting to believe if we don’t see dramatic expressions of power, you’re not working.

But even when we can’t see it or feel it, You are working.

Lord, it’s annoying how much easier it is to see the work of our enemy. He’s loud, boastful and his sole purpose is to overwhelm us with his activity.

But you’re nothing like him. Your words fall like morning dew—so gentle. And your ways are beyond our understanding.

Because as great and awesome as You are, you’re humble in your workings. When we think of all of creation, your greatest being mankind—no man saw You do any of it.

You reveal your hidden mysteries in their set time. And so we follow You by faith because we can’t see the works of your hands.

So Father, teach us to look past what’s presented to your perfect work.

To look past what we see to what You say. You say that you’re working in us the desire and the power to do what pleases You. And we take You at your word.

That even when we see our flesh on parade along with the flesh of those around us—as believers we’re still the righteousness of God in Christ. And You’re making our way flourish!

Greater are You in us than he who is in the world. We magnify You over our circumstances while we wait patiently on You.

It’s in Jesus’ name, the eternal Word, we pray and give thanks. Amen.

Prayer inspired by Romans 16:25-26.
