VINE PRAYER: PRAY GOD’S WORD TO PRACTICE GOD’S PRESENCE IN TROUBLING TIMES

How to live intentionally when life seems random. How to stand on God's promises when all around you shakes.

Father, we want to go into this week confident, but we’re overcome with the chaos of this world.

We’ve seen a storm ravage an island nation and threaten an entire seaboard. Senseless car accidents snatched away loved ones. And we never know when the next deranged person will open fire.

How do we live intentionally when life seems random?

How do we live aware of Your love in a world spewing hate?

How do we stand on Your promises when everything around us shakes?

We don’t know what to do but our eyes are on You. You alone are our rock and our salvation. You are our fortress—we will never be shaken.

But sometimes it takes everything in us to remember You are greater than anything we see, hear, smell, taste, or touch coming against us.

Today we shout the name of Jesus to the spirit of fear hoping to crush us in its coil. You didn’t give us that spirit so, it too, must bow at the name of Jesus.

We thank You Father for the Spirit You gave us: the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.

By that Spirit, help us live from the inside out, not from the outside in. Help us live from the peace Jesus left with us, a peace that surpasses reason.

And now more than ever, help us hang on your every word.

Instead of chewing our lip in fear, help us chew on your promise that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty!

When we’re wringing our hands remind us You cover us and our children with your feathers and under your wings, we find refuge!

And when we worry we might be the next victim of an accident or act of terror, help us declare we will not fear the terror of night (bad news), nor the arrow (bullet) that flies by day, nor the pestilence (disease outbreak) that stalks in the darkness, nor the destruction (storm) that lays waste at noonday!

Because You hid our lives with Christ.

And though our knees feel weak, we’re standing on your promises.

We declare what You say in Psalm 91. When we call on You, You will answer. You will be with us in trouble. You are our deliverer. And with long life You will satisfy us and show us your Yeshua—Jesus, salvation himself.

It’s in the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen!!!

Prayer inspired by Psalm 62: 2.
