Lord Jesus, many are the fears that surround us.
They assault us like an army, setting themselves against us to devour our faith.
We’re haunted by pestilence, a lurking virus, debilitating to some and deadly to others.
We’re concerned for the safety of our loved ones, especially our children, as they head back to school en masse.
And for those learning from home, we’re concerned about equality in their education.
We’re disturbed by the wicked hearts of men and the earth’s groaning.
We’re troubled by the economy and the alarming unemployment rate. Will we keep our jobs? Will we have healthcare should we or a family member fall sick?
All these things are against us. But You are for us.
And when our fears overwhelm us, we praise You for your faithfulness. We say like David—those who worship You lack nothing.
Because even if we see the fiercest of beasts falter in hunger and weakness, we have your repeated promise that those who seek You lack no good thing.
So as our fears surround us, we call out to You and seek You.
With everything in us, we bless You, Lord. We continually keep your praise in our mouths, boasting in your goodness despite feeling troubled.
We remember that You are over all things and subject to no created thing.
Greater are You in us than he who is in the world.
And while we confidently wait for You to deliver us from all our fears, we’re grateful.
We’re grateful You’re faithful to strengthen us where we’re weak and to protect us, even from the evil one—the source of all fear.
And for this and so much more, we give You all the glory. We have tasted and seen that You are good, blessed for trusting in You.
It’s in your faithful name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Prayer inspired by 2 Thessalonians 3:3.
“I have no words right now.”
We’ve all been there. Life hands you a problem you can’t even put into words, much less solve. And whether you’re a longtime believer who’s discouraged, you’re new to faith in Christ or you’re wondering what this “Jesus stuff” is all about, talking with God about what you’re facing feels so far out of reach.
What if there were a way to making talking to God easier?
You may not know what to say or you may not want to pray. But if you’re overwhelmed, speechless, and confused about what to do next, Jesus wants to help you.
Got A Minute to Pray is a collection of 60 Bible-based prayers for today’s challenges like worry, anxiety, and depression.
